Sirocco Sky Bar

We spend finnish Vappu in Bangkok and as all know it is kind of a big drinking holiday, we needed to find a bar. When you are with local people, you always get the best tips and go the best places. Reiska told us about one roof top bar (I had also read about it, but did not remember the name) and it happen to be in this tall white building close to Oriental hotel near by the Chao Phraya river. I had seen the building many times and cause white is my favorite colour, always tooked pics and said I want to live there one day. :)

The Sirocco Sky Bar was something amazing!! We could not have gone the better place. You could see the whole Bangkok from there.

The atmosphere was so great up there. The warm wind in your hair, whole Bangkok underneath you, cold drinks, great friends... :) What a VAPPU!!

The view from the roof is absolutely breathtaking!! And again I do apologize for my pics...not as good as I want them to be...but my camera still broken and I have to use the small one, and dont like it at all!!

When you go to Sirocco, you can take the sky train and get off at Sophan Taksin station.

Drinks are atleast 500b (about 10e) which is quite expensive in Thailand, but it will be worth it. :)

Edelleen pienta kieliongelmaa, kun en osaa paattaa, mita kielta kirjoitan. Kaikki osaa lukea englantia, muutamaa poikkeusta lukuun ottamatta (porukat...hih..). Englanti muutenkin ehka kaytannollisempi, koska niin paljon ulkomaalaisia kavereita ympari maailmaa.
Eika taalla tietenkaan ole edes a:n ja o:n pilkkuja. Varmaan voi saada vaihdettua jotenkin, mutta mulla ei nyt karsivallisyys riita tappeleman naitten koneiden kanssa. Muutenkin hermoja vahan kiristaa, kun kaikki ohjelmat on thaiksi. ;)

Mutta nyt thairuokaan!! Namskis namskis!! Bangkokissa eri paikkojen kirjo on niin valtavaa, etta runsaudenpula iskee useasti. Omasta mielestani parhaimpia paikkoja on ne, missa on paljon paikallisia ja mielellaan yksinkertainen paikka, vaikkapa kadulla.
Mutta kuvathan kertoo huomattavasti paremmin, joten tassa tulee. Bon abbetit. :)

Geh laittaa aina valmiiksi ruokaa, kun olen tulossa. Ja tietysti kaikkia lemppareita. Talla kertaa menuulla oli Green Currya ja paljon hedelmia. Uutena suosikkina tuli Rambutan hetelma. Karvapallo, mika halkaistaan ja keskusta syodaan. Nayttaa ihan kananmunalta ja pidikkeelta. ;)

Loydettiin Tong Lo:sta aivan ihana aamispaikka. Little Home. Jos tulee Tong Lon Sky train pysakilta pain, niin se on vasemmalla puolella, n.800m.

MBK:n viidennessa kerroksessa on Food court. Siella ostetaan kuponkeja (vaikka 100B) ja sitten voi ostella ja kerailla ruokia ja juomia kaikista kojuista. (tahan tulossa lisaa kuvia, mutta kone ei suostu lataamaan nyt...)

Som Tam salaatti. Taalla Elixirissa on jo annettu mulle lempinimi Som Tam, koska syon vahintaan kerran paivassa ton ihanan tulisen salaatin.

Bangkokin kaduilta voi ostaa aivan mita tahansa!!!

Hedelmat ei ole ainoastaan herkullisen varisia, vaan niistakin loytaa jokaiseen makuun mahtavia loytoja.

Yksi parhaista illallisista ikina. Paikallinen paikka lahella Geh:n taloa Tong Lo:ssa. Ruoka aivan mahtavaa ja hinnat vahintaankin kohtuullisia. Meita oli syomassa 4 ja tilattiin 5 eri annosta ja hintaa tuli yhteensa n.10e.

Uusi tuttavuus ja Geh:n herkku.

Aamis Geh:n luona. Hetelmia ja ruisleipaa. Olaan tavattu Geh:n kanssa aikoinaan Espanjassa koulussa ja siella han ihastui ruisleipaan, karjalanpiirakaan, lihapiirakkaan ja muihin Suomiherkkuihin, joita sitten kantelen aina nykyisin Bangkokiin. Hedelmista Pomelo on myos suuri ihastukseni...kuvassa tuo vaalea...

Taas Tong Lon paikallisessa (missa ihana illallinen) lounaalla. Kaksi suosikkia esilla Pad Thai (ylempi) ja Tom Khaa Gai. Pad Thai yksi yleisempia ruokia Thaimaassa ja saa vaikka mista katupaikastakin. Nuudelia, tofua, vihanneksi, kananmunaa, katkarapuja jne...Tom Khaa Gai on kookosmaitokeitto kanalla ja vihanneksilla. Thaimaassa kaytetyt mausteet on niin ihania, tuoksu, maku ja varit tekee jokaisesta annoksesta erikoisen.

Kaytiin siis siella illallisristeilylla Chao Praya joella. Joellahan risteilee useampia laivoja. Paaosin samalla pariaatteella illallinen, ohjelmaa ja nahtavyyksia. Taytyy kylla sanoa, etta ruoka ei laheskaan niin hyvaa, kun "normipaikoissa" ja maksettiin kymmenkertainen hinta...

Katupaikat on aivan mahtavia!! Ruoka parasta ja hinnat viela parempia. :) Tama kyseinen paikka on lahella jokea ja Oriental hotellia. Aivan ison valkoisen State buildingin edessa (siella siis 64. kerroksessa aivan mahtava terassi. Valittu maailman parhaimmaksi.

Whiskya ja vihanneksia...eikos se niin mene??!! ;) Ja whisky tulee yleensa kaduilla aina pulloittain...mutta nain suomalaisittain ihan ok!! Varsinkin kun sattui olemaan Vappu. :)

Ja hyvin tyhjeni Suomi-tytsyjen toimesta. Sitten sinne 64.kerrokseen...jepjep...

Vappukierroksella kavimme myos Tapas nimisessa paikassa ja poytaan saapui kannu Kamikazea. :)

Geh on kotoisin Laosin rajan lahelta ja Reiska tiesi hyvan laosilaisen ravintolan, joten siella kaytiin myos. Itse en tykannyt laheskaan niin paljon kuin thaimaalaisesta. Mutta tulihan maistettua MUURAHAISENMUNIA!!

I have been to Bangkok so many times but every time there is something new and different to see and do. This time one of those things were luxurious dinner cruise on the river.

There is a saying, “you shouldn't miss the Seine when in Paris, the Thames when in London, and the Chao Phraya when visiting Bangkok.”

I think Chao Phraya river is one of the great places in Bangkok. We usually have lunch at Oriental hotel when (also by the river) we are here, but this time no time to do that either.

On the river you can see historic temples and landmarks slowly unfold on your left and right.

Behold the marvelous Temple of Dawn, The Grand Palace, Rama VIII Suspension Bridge and a delightful collection of waterfront hotels and landmarks. All of these and buffet dinner, complimented with live music and a Thai classical dance show.

 

 

Geh & Reiska

The cruise was perfect way to start Vappu in Bangkok. We had perfect and different Vappu here in BKK but more about that next time.

Finally we wre in Bangkok and actually going to island already tomorrow. Time goes so fast when you are having fun and that is what we have been doing. Bangkok is one of the most fantastic cities in the world. You can do and see everything in same place.

I was pretty sure that we will not make it to Thailand. Usually when you wait something so so so much, something happens and it will not come true.
I have never get flight cancelled but also that happen to us now...we got a message from Finnair saying that our night flight 23.35 (only flight I can take to Bangkok...) has been moved to next morning 8am...I hate to fly long (or any) flights during the day.

We had so many places to choose from...

I have never seen BKK flight this empty!!

I´m the last person you want to fly with...I used to be so scared of flying. Now it is getting little better but still I have these weirld things I have to do in every flight...like before the plane takes off and when it lands.
It used to be so bad, I could not eat, go to toilet, watch tv, keep my feet on the floor...and so on...








Every time when I travel, have to buy all the english gossip magazines!! And I´m telling you every time Peter and Jordan are on the cover...hih...

My precious!!!! Has to be the best thing ever on the plane!!

We had hard time choosing what to watch...almost felt like we were not on plane and that feeling is hard to get! ;)

Finally in Bangkok!!! We had some problems at the airport...we have 3 month visa, but they gave us only one month stamp. Luckily we noutice before we went out from the airport.
Reiska (my thai friendm who looooves Finland and has finnish name...hih...) was meeting us at the airport and drove us to Geh´s house.
