The Broken Leg

Ok...it has been almost one month since I wrote here last...So many things has happened on this little weird island. In one point me and Elina thought that we have landed on the Lost island and were really expected to find a hatch here somewhere...But atleast we did not find it from the jungle when we had our jungle adventure. ;) But I'm certain it is here!!

The biggest thing that has happened here recently is my broken leg!! Jep jep, Im like the biggest disaster walking...Surprisingly I have never broke any bones before, but now also that has happened...
 
It happened in Krabi, now also known as Crappy!! We were going to beach at dark and there is this huge fall to the beach and of course I did not look where Im going and ups there I went...and it hurt like hell already then but we went to hospital the next day.

I have been in wheelchair before in my travels too. 1995 I was in California with Kirsi and was riding with this almost wild Arab horse and long story short, I ended up in wheelchair with broken ribs. Then we just rolled everywhere like Universal Studios...I can also tell you when there is an earthquake, not so easy to stand up and go under the door with broken ribs....

Yep, there it is!!! The ankle was so swollen that they could not put the big cast on it in Krabi...so I got something in between...The ankle was hurting so badly that I could literally see spots!! And kind of fainted few times.

Sometimes the four wheel was the best way to move!! ;)

I felt little sad for few days, cause I could not do anything!! And I hate asking for help, I want to do everything by myself!! Please note those beautiful and so useful old fashion crutches!! ;) So easy to use...does not hurt hands or armpits at all...

I'm so happy Elina was here with me....

Here you can see some of the steps that I had to jump up and down with crutches...and of course no railings...why would there be??!!

This is not even bad yet...We were supposed to go from Krabi stright to Koh Yao Yai with one boat...but nope...cause we have had so much bad luck, why stop now. The boat that we were supposed to take was BROKEN!! So we had to drive 40 min to another pier and wait for 1,5 hours. Then took the boat to Koh Yao Noi and drive through that whole island and take another boat (longtail) from there to get to Koh Yao Yai and then drive 45 min to get to our resort...I did this all again with the broken leg. So, millions steps (without railings of course) and going over many longtail boats to get the ones that we can actually use...and steps again...oh, so much fun. ;)

So now finally back in my island again...I also visit Phuket International Hospital and they wanted to operate my leg but I did not let them. It would have been operation, spend few nights in hospital and still have the cast like 4-5 weeks...Now I took only the cast and have to have it maybe 7-8 weeks...I have to go to hospital again next week, let's see what happens.
When I'm travelling and something bad happens, it always makes me miss Finland, family and friends. I almost came home now...so many people told me to come but Suomalainen Sisu will keep me here even it is so hard every day. Our whole yard and garden is full or rocks and grass and it makes it so hard to walk with those stupis crutches!! And of course it is also pouring rain all the time now, and it makes everything so slippery. But I will stay!!

Finland Ice-Hockey World Champ 2011

We waited for this 16 loooong years!! Every year we thought that this year is the year, but always something happened...and usually it was Sweden who took the dream away from us...but not this year!! This year is our year!! Finland did it again, we are THE ICE-HOCKEY CHAMPS 2011!!!

2006 when there was Finland - Sweden hockey finale in Olympics, I was also in Thailand. We tried to find a place where to watch, but could not find any place and ended up only listening the game in internet place...and the game turned out to be same as all the games with Sweden, they won the gold!!!
But this year it was different....we went to Phuket with a boat to make sure we could actually see the game, without any power cuts on the island...

We found one finnish bar where they actually had a big screen!!! We were already going to this swedish bar, cause somebody said it is the only place where the game is on...that could have been fun. ;) (I would never go to finnish bar anywhere abroad, but this time we made an exception...)

We had few finnish people there and few from Belgium and Australia...we could not get the live voice from Finland. It would have made it perfect, if we could have heard the voice of Antero Mertaranta. He is living Legend, who always covers the games!! He is simple the best!!

The game was so good!! We yelled, screamed, jumped, drinked & of course made fun of the swedes... :)
Finland-Sweden games are the best ever. It is the worst feeling when we lose to them (and let me tell you, it has heppened a lot over the years) but nothing feels better than beating the swedes!! ;)

We won 6-1, so it was not even close!! We deserded to win the gold this year, we were just better in every section. After the win we had some sparkling wine and head to Patong with this huge Finnish flag.

Too bad there were no swedish people anywhere!! For the first time we so tried to look for them but they were all hiding somewhere!! ;) And we were singing DEN GLIDER IN!!

The celebration continued in Hollywood club and VIP section.We had the huge flag with us the whole evening...and celebration went on till 6.30 am that morning. :)

Ok...I think that Absolut sign just made the evening even better. ;) We are absolut better!!

The next day I went to internet cafe and listen to Antero Mertaranta & goals of the game like million times and laughed and cried every time!! :)

FIN - RUS

Jaakiekko on aina ollut minulle se juttu. 90-luvan alussa Jokerit oli erittain kova sana. (noniin, ja nyt taas siella puolet tippu penkilta...Jukka P ensimmaisena..joojoo, tiedan et kaikki muut inhos niita..plaa plaa, vanha vitsi jo...) Leikekirjoja tuolta ajalta on kertynyt about 15 kappaletta. Ja nyt ei puhuta mistaan hennoista kirjoista, vaan paksuista A4 kokosista raamatuista. Make, Keke, Wade, Otto ja kumppanit tulivat tutuiksi vuosien varrella. Peleja kaytiin seuraamassa ympariinsa ja Talin tenniskeskuksessa vietetiin myos kummasti aikaa.

Nykyisin en enaan SM-liigaa seuraile, mutta MM-kisat & olympialaiset on nahtava!! Aivan sama missa on ja paljon kello on.
2006 olympialaisten aikaan olin siskoni kanssa Bangkokissa. Loppuottelua Suomi-Ruotsi oli aivan pakko paasta katsomaan, mutta eihan se missaan nakynyt!! Siihen aikaan ei tullut suorana netista viela kisoja tai emme me ainakaan loytaneet. Vihdoin paadyimme nettipaikkaan kuuntelemaan jotain sarisevaa radiokanavaa kuulokkeilla!! :) Kylla oli TAAS mukava paasta osalliseksi siitakin noyryytyksesta. ;)

Mutta nyt nykyaikaan...eilen tuli Suomi-Venaja matsi ja jopa kohtuulliseen aikaan taalla, eli 21.15. Ei edes tarvinnut herata keskella yota. Olimme valmistautuneet koitokseen suomalaiseen tapaan kisajuomilla (niiden hakureissu onkin sitten seuraava blogi...).
Yhdeksan aikaan innoissamme tulimme toimistolle, todetaksemme vaan, etta koko saarelta on nettiyhteys poikki!! Siina sitten muutama painosana saattoi lipsahtaa...mutta suomalsisella sisulla siitakin selvittiin...enpa olisi uskonut loytavani kadonnutta signaalia!!

Netti saatiin toimimaan ja peli kayntiin!!

Olimme hommanneet kisamukit ja kisajuomat Phuketista. Eikos ole hienot?? :) Ei taida olla vaikeeta arvata, kumpi muki on mun??!!

Ensimmainen era melkein nahtiin ilman ongelmia...mita nyt netti patki vahan tai peli muuten vaan katosi johonkin...

Paalla tietysti Suomen varit..pelipaitaa ei nyt tahan hataan loytynyt mistaan!! Liput pitaa kylla tehda kisakatsomoon kunhan loppupelit alkaa! :)

Kylla tassakin oli tiettya tunnelmaa.

Koska mitaanhan ei tehda helposti, niin tottakai sahkot pamahti pois paalta hieman suomen 2-1 kavennuksen jalkeen...sitakaan maalia en tietenkaan nahnyt, kun puhuin juuri puhelimessa.
Mutta ei hataa...vaikka koko saari oli aivan pimeena (ja myos lahisaaret) peli nakyi viela ja Mertarannan kuuluva aani kaikui pimealla saarella. Hieman siina meinasi kuuma tulla, kun mitkaan viilennykset ei enaan toiminut. Ja vahan turhan lahelta kuului miljoona erilaista elaimenaanta, mutta nou hata, peli nakyy!!

Kunnes sitten KAIKKI virta pamahti pois ja jaatiin aivan sakkpimeyteen...Elinalla oli kylla taskulamppu, mutta omani olin antanut viime viikolla asiakkaalle, enka muistanut hakea takaisin tai ottaa uutta.

Eihan siina sitten auttanut muu, kun lahtea hapuilemaan takaisin kotiin. Matka ei ole pitka, mutta voin kertoa etta siina pimeydessa se tuntuu vahan liiankin pitkalta. Ja en koskaan ole ollut hirmuisen kotonani pimeydessa!! Jalkaa vaan todella ylos, ettei vaan osu mihinkaan karvaseen tai limaseen otokkaan...

Ajateltiin viela vahan istua ulkona ja "nauttia" pimeydesta. Nooh, sitten tulivat itsemurhaperhoset...niita lenteli ympariinsa ja tormailivat meihin minka kerkesivat. Alussa yritimme pelastaa niita steariinista, mutta kun koko suku tuli aina perassa, siitakin suunnitelmasta luovuttiin.

Itsemurhaperhosia...tassa ei nayta kovin isoilta, mutta kun tommonen lasahtaa naamaan, niin kylla siina tulee muutama metri hypattya johonkin suuntaan...

Yritettiin tehda kaikki iltahommelit kynttilanvalossa...ja Elina aina valilla saattoi mua takaisin kotiin ja taas takaisin...pimea on mulle jotain ihan kamalaa, joten nukuin sitten Elinan villassa. (kunhan oltiin ensin maiskitty lehdilla kaikki sisaan hyokanneet itsemurhaperhoset) Sahkot oli poikki koko yon ja himpusti oli liian kuuma!!

Saatiin kylla heti pelin loputtua tieto, etta SUOMI VOITTI!! :) Olis ollut niin upeeta nahda rankkarikisa, ne on aivan parhaita. Varsinkin silloin kun voitetaan! :)

Tassa vahan hyttysten hyokkaysten saldoa...puremia on satoja joka paikassa!! Mutta who cares, SUOMI VOITTI!!

Tammonen peli talla kertaa...taalla odotetaan jo tostaita innolla, ja sitten olis vahan parasta toimia yhteyksien!!

Koh Khai Noi Island

Koh Khai Noi Island is only 10 min from Elixir resort where I work now. I can see it from my window.

The small island are one of the best places in Thailand.

Shopping is so much more fun when you can do it by the ocean. :)

I visited Koh Khai Nok island 2006 and it was one of the most beautiful small island I had seen till then. Now I thought this one was the same and I was so shocked how much there was trash everywhere. Luckily it was not the same island, but it was still bad.

We actually put our towels here between the ocean and we got so wet from two waves coming at us from both sides...The high tide comes so fast...all the towels, books and everything got wet.

DOES NOT look good!!! If you take something to the small island, I think it is your job to get the trash out there and not leave them there!!! I got sooo mad when I saw these, that I wrote email to the people who takes care of the island!! They better not be there when I go there next but better not be in ocean either!!
